These programmes, which are run for a minimum of thirteen months (two years for motor vehicle), are delivered in the workplace with independent study of around 2 hours per week and consists of a nationally recognised qualification.
The programme has been developed with employers, colleges, universities and sector skills councils to give the most relevant work based learning.

The learner will receive support from industry professionals and dedicated trainers from which the training can provide excellent career progression opportunities and allow the learner to compete for higher salaries and promotions and gives learners the opportunity to develop the core competences needed by staff in today’s dynamic business world.

All of these programmes consist of Diplomas or NVQs and assignments, Functional skills in maths, English and in most casesICT and ERR (Employees’ Rights and Responsibilities).

Diploma/NVQ – The learner is required to produce a portfolio of evidence for assessment in the units and complete some written assignments and/or tests set by the awarding organisation and will involve monthly visits to the workplace by a trainer/assessor when the learner will be able to discuss the work they are doing as part of their job with the trainer to match their skills against the qualification requirements.

Transferable Skills – Learners must complete (or have completed) an English, Maths and ICT transferable skills qualification in order to successfully complete the programme. These are achieved through successful completion of functional skills qualifications through examinations set by the awarding organisation. (Exemptions exist for those who already hold these or equivalent qualifications)

Employees Rights and Responsibilities Assignment – The Employees Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) assignment has been produced to ensure understanding of the Employment Responsibilities and Rights that form part of the Apprenticeship programme.

The learner will require technical knowledge and will show competence through complex work activities. Assessments are conducted in the workplace through observation of the duties carried out and a range of other methods; including witness statements, professional discussions and reflective accounts, written reports, assignments and tests set by the awarding organisation. To fulfil the requirements of the course the learner will also be required to undertake research and written assignments.

The learner will be able to review their progress with their trainer at each visit, and they can contact the trainer at any time if they need extra support.
