As the COVID-19 pandemic and Lockdown 3.0 continues to spread across the world, you may find yourself still in a work-from-home (WFH) situation and are struggling with the work/life balance. With the right effort, you can stay productive while taking care of yourself as we offer guidance and tips below…
Designate a workspace
Set up an area of your house to use as a workspace, so this space sends a clear signal to your brain that it’s time to focus and avoid this area when you are not working, so you have a clear work area. Make sure you think about your workplace, that your posture is okay and you’re sitting in a suitable chair at a table/desk and are comfortable.
Set and stick to a routine
Follow your regular sleep and work patterns, try and stay consistent with your typical day-to-day life.
Even try scheduling in your “commute time” and spend it either exercising, reading or listening to music before logging in.
Make sure you have the same routine when you get up, same time, eat breakfast and get dressed; make sure you shutdown entirely at the end of the day and focus on your personal life.
Move around and take breaks
Working from home means you are spending less time moving your body. Help your posture and change your position; make sure you get up and walk around. Make time for breaks to help manage feelings of stress – try to take lunch and regular screen breaks.
Stay in touch with colleagues, have weekly virtual meetings so you can see each other and boost each other’s morale.
